Float Point – Until the Noise Stops

Ths one feels icy, metallic and sharp. Different. Unusual. Strange. And therefore, it’s awesome.

You gotta love the unusual approach of the newest release of Float Point. These arpeggiated, almost chiptune-ish melodies build a minimal, harsh atmosphere that feels dehumanized, somewhat hectic and odd. Due to this atmosphere, nothing seems to be at the right spot, it feels like a visit to a mirror dimension. And because of this, I love this tune.

The vocals are a mixture of emotional passages blended with bitcrushed desperate system voices in this melodic but edgy setting. With seemingly minimal elements in ‘Until the Noise Stops’, the voyage of the listener is guided through several stages, from vulnerable to adventurous to unforgiving and back. Don’t let the minimal electro synth tracks trick you into believing that this track was done with little efforts. You can hear the hours of sound transforming in there, every other element feels different but connected to the others to create this special groove happening in there. This is how to burn down regulations and boundaries of music, just to rebuild them in style.
