Michael Baker – Little Hands

This track spreads nostalgia for me.

Being backed by a soft piano and a minimal percussion, the vocals of singer/songwriter take their time to tell the story, and they do so in a very warm, human fashion. The voice transmits this special ‘it’s okay’ vibe along the notes which blends in perfectly with the backing tracks.

‘Little Hands’ knows how to transmit melancholy. Not too much of it, just enough to make the sound feel vintage and warm, the tune is well-balanced and works great with the usage of just basic elements. But this is exactly why they say ‘less is more’, with a soft approach like this you don’t need tons of filler tracks, or hundreds of effect plugins. There’s this certain kind of honesty involved, transmitting a very down to earth vibe which feels comforting and relaxing. And, if anyone had doubts, it shows that Baker isn’t just a newly breed hybrid stage act but he is living and breathing music. You can feel that he is giving away little pieces of his soul in his music.
