Matt Carstens – Why Him

Letting go of someone who doesn’t appreciate you never have felt better.

The new release of the South African talent Matt Carstens has an ultra-energetic approach. With a unique blend of electro beat, handmade guitar lines and vocals that are changing pace in an instant due to emotion or distorted progressions, the new release of Carstens feels honest and groovy, with an awesome amount of signature ‘told you’ vibe. My times of being in the situation told by the song are long gone (thank god!), but I still know exactly how that felt, so I can honestly say that this certain feeling of being used is captured perfectly, and I wish that back then it would have felt just half-uplifting than ‘Why Him’. Listening to this track nowadays brings back memories, but it also feels positive and empowering.

I love the up-to-date approach of the song, this tune doesn’t contain retro vibes nor does it cling on to ultra-emotional melancholic elements. Being borderline kickass rock-ish, the track knows how to put that sense of self-awareness in your head.
