Klangkarussell, GIVVEN – Ghostkeeper

This track lives and breathes an awesome mysterious and dark atmosphere.

As if you were walking alone through unknown underground terrain, the track uses a slow rhythm and a dark base to make the room teperature drop several degrees. And there they are, these haunting vocals, somewhat lost, somewhat oddworld-ish, as if these were voices from another dimension talking to you. Along the steady pace there are several elements added to create tension, be it an arpeggiated minimal synth or defensive percussion.

I love that the track has a full effect without rushing anything, and without firing hundreds of single tracks or effects at the listener. THIS is how to create a beautiful atmosphere in a slow, calm environment. Whenever you get used to the setting, something changes, as if you were walking from one cave to the other in the above mentioned underground setting. These seemingly small changes have a huge effect on the overall feel and flavor of the tune. You can feel this ‘scenario morphing’ on all levels. The groove feels different, the room reverb, the melodic mood, the room temperature…you name it. So, put on these closed headphones, turn up the volume and close your eyes. Klangkarussell and GIVVEN, will do the rest.
