Silona – Goodbye Friend

With her signature voice, Silona once again enchants with her new heartfelt ballad.

You know me guys, I love to have a song paint a picture for me. ‘Goodbye Friend’ painted the picture of a tree for me. Strange, huh. But imagine this very, very old oak. While you lie in the shade underneath it, next to the beginning of its roots, this oak waves its leaves softly in the wind while it tells you a story of great wisdom and passion.

Using a very lightweight piano and synth base and a very defensive rhythm, the backing is perfect for those emotional vocals of Silona. The melodies feel strangely balanced between melancholy and uplifting spirit, and the vocals let you merge with the soft sound while you close your eyes and take in the emotions packed into this song.
The most important thing in this track is this unbelievable fragile atmosphere. The emotion happening in there is really intense. Its songs like this one that remind me to value all of whats happening in life. Tunes like this one remind us not only how important it is to live life by your own terms, but to cherish everything and everyone around us. Things can change ultra-fast from light to dark and vice-versa, and we need to be aware that there shouldn’t be any ‘I wish I would…’ regrets in our lives. So, to a certain degree, ‘Goodbye Friend’ isn’t just a slow melodic ballad with awesome vocals, to me it’s like a small lecture about life as well.
