The Den – Highway Bloodline

This track is for us dreamers out there.

Starting with a defensive guitar backing and a laid back rhythm, the new release of The Den invites the listener to lean back and get lost in the dreamy melodies and vocals. The vocals are warm, emotional and versatile, they feel fragile and vulnerable at one end of the track while uplifting, easy-going and lightweight on the other. What I love most about ‘Highway Bloodline’ is all these little things to find in there. There are several thoughtful placed elements to find in there if you listen closely. Retro sparkling synths. Electro organs. Unusual basslines. Shaker percussion. Whatever you are looking for, you’ll find something new every time you listen to the song.

One thing thats present all the time in both instruments and vocals is passion. To me its clear that the guys of the canadian rock band are living and breathing music, it’s not just a way to express themselves, it’s rather a part of who they are as humans. There’s just this special honesty in the tracks of The Den that cannot be faked or staged. Don’t just take my word for it. Listen for yourself. But be prepared to get lost in the sound.
