Betty Moon – Crazy (What You Make Me)

In what feels like a cold harsh atmospheric environment, Betty Moon knows how to put a spell on the listener with just her voice.

Backed by a electro synth and a steady beat, the stage is set for the lush voice of the LA based singer/songwriter. There’s something really addictive in ‘Crazy’ that I can’t put my finger on. There’s a cold, unforgiving synth bassline happening along a steady and defensive beat and percussion combination which is the perfect base for these awesome vocals of Betty Moon. These are done in sort of a staccato style where every word is chopped to let the sound seem somewhat mechanic while adding a ton of groove into the sound.

Taken from the album ‘Hellucination’, this track is a multitalent. A great soundtrack to drive home late at night, a song to sing along or dance through the kitchen, you name it. The tune somehow manages to guide me through several environments – from cold, metallic, to warm to hot and disco-ish, and then back again. The versatility is not only embedded in the music, but in the released music video as well, where a lot of work was put in to interpret ‘Crazy’ with an intelligent construct of pictures, effects, lighting and a playful way of giving the viewer exactly so much that his/her imagination is fired up.
