Shade – Brain Suck

This sound takes me back to the good, old times when it was all about that grungy lifestyle.

I haven’t heard such an honest kickass tune for a while now. The whole setup of the song, even the effects of the guitars and the vocals, take me back a couple of years. A lot of years actually, this feels like good old times when I used to hang with my band somewhere wasting time, doing my best NOT to think about life. It was music like the actual release of Shade that got me through the day back then. With those somewhat sassy and half-angry vocals, “Brain Suck” releases an unexpected amount of energy once the chorus hits. During the verses, the sound feels lightweight and almost with a surf vibe attached, but when the chorus hits, you wanna play this tune in your car, driving through the city windows down with sunglasses on. At night. With a big evil grin on your face.

The track has an awesome dark-ish, metallic main theme which serves great as the base for the grunge-themed instruments. This might make me sound like an old man, but heck – they don’t play this sound out there anymore. Well, luckily the guys of Shade do. Now excuse me, I gotta look for my car keys and my sunglasses.
