Koko – Eyes So Wide

Cold, metallic, unknown. Driving, restless. There are many attributes to connect this new release of the Bristol based trio Koko with.

The track uses a quite minimal linear rhythm setting along an awesome metallic synth and a bass sysnth that’s constantly in motion, but not the linear type you would expect. It changes pace, pattern and tone fluently. With that extraordinary bass, the stage is set for the somewhat dehumanized, almost emotionless male vocals.

“Eyes So Wide” feels like a passionate song of affection and desire. Almost with an addictive flair, the focus lies on the vocals that transmit the message in a part lush, part irresistible way. The perfect mixture of human elements and electro backing even amplifies what I only can describe as ‘I-want-you’ effect. The mix of the tune is an absolute masterpiece. Everything was precisely brought in place. In other words: this is how great electro is supposed to sound like.
