Kate Vogel – The Cycle

Once again, the singer/songwriter Vogel knows how to hit the mark with her emotive work.

Having had a troubled past to say the least, Vogel is venting her feelings through music like it was an easy thing to do, but believe me: opening up this way takes courage, confidence and bravery. This, combined with the beautiful fragile vocals of the young singer/songwriter, is a message so strong and powerful it simply needs to get heard out there. Being backed by only a guitar, its clear to me that Vogel wants the message not to be disturbed or softened by any unnecessary elements in this song.

You need to listen closely to what she has to say. Almost all of Vogels’ songs have this ultimate charge included that make me as the listener evaluate everything I do. She brings forward all of the effects that any actions had on her in the past, and although she never does so in an accusing way, I somehow feel partly responsible about what happened. I guess this is because I’m able to feel what she’s trying to tell the listener. For those who are willing to, the content of her songs do have an impact like a bullet shot right through your mind. With stories told that make you wonder how she even manages to not feel completely dead inside.

This, guys, is the only definition of ‘strong’ for me, the human. And the only definition of ‘beauty’ for me, the music lover.
