Nervous City Nervous Self – Anthem

This track was created in a very playful fashion. All the single elements merge into a very mysterious and unknown atmosphere, with so much happening that you don’t know where to look (better: listen to) first.

This probably was the intention of swedish singer/songwriter David Josephson after all: to create this environment we all find ourselves in in our daily lives. Of course there are known elements surrounding us, but also, there are unknown, mysterious, edgy and probably uncomfortable elements to find around us.

Being a mere portray of a wandering singer’s delightful doom, “Anthem” is more of a self-reflect invitation to me than it is an everyday tune to listen to. The soft, calm vocals are guiding the listener through this wonderland of synth, soundscape and melody. The track makes me realize that what feels foreign doesn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing, what feels unusual can become common after all, and feeling lonely is part of our life. The minimal track setting of the song doesn’t fail to deliver the emotional message by offering all the sensitive vibe with what’s available. I love the fact that with this track you can step out of these borders that define genres, letting the dreamy soundscape have an effect on you. This tune is as artistic than it is melodic.
