Solarrio – Play the Fool

Mysterious, somewhat cold and lonely. From the first seconds of the track, “Play the Fool” knows how to create an incredible atmosphere in the head of the listener.

The electro atmosphere of the latest release of French producer Solarrio is a thing of beauty. Along a quite defensive drum section but an intelligent percussive setting, there’s this thick, dark and rich bass synth that makes you shiver when you play the tune too loud. And if this wasn’t enough, there are these vocals. Connected to a great amount of groove and confidence, those vocals own this song by going up and down through the note range with ease, being backed by doubled/harmonized processed backing vocal tracks where needed.

First and foremost, “Play the Fool” makes you groove. Speaking of me, this also makes me put on this evil smile, because this track delivers on an emotional level as well, injecting confidence and coolness into your bloodstream while telling you about obsession, self-control and the quest for fame and admiration. This one makes me play this tune in my car, windows down with sunglasses on at midnight. Singing along while failing miserably on the higher notes. (but that’s not the point. Point is:) This track feels just as good as it sounds.
