Dear Rouge – Live Through The Night

Everyone’s ready for some awesome electro pop? Or is it alternative rock? Well, hard to say, to be honest. One thing’s for sure: it’s unique, and quite frankly, it’s plain awesome.

The main gems of this track are obviously the vocals and the distorted bass line. While the vocals bring a certain sexy confidence to the table, it’s that fat, dirty, sassy bass that sets the tone for “Live Through The Night”. The track feels like you’re sitting at the bar, and all of a sudden the door breaks open, and this power couple walks in almost in slow motion. The bass would be the bad, bad man, while the vocals are the not-so-innocent counterpart.

I love the chemsitry of the single elements in the track of Drew and Danielle McTaggart, better known as the canadian project Dear Rouge. The rhythm along the somewhat raw feel backing are the perfect base for the female vocals, and there’s a constant tension to feel in this tune for there are several mixing effects and additional tracks placed, like echoes, atmospheric synths or even processed uhhs and aahs. This track tells a story, and makes the audience groove instantly while doing so. And this story is being told with an outstanding mix of hard and soft, raw and polished, fast and slow, fragile and kick-ass. We got to name this newly created genre. I tend to call it “Rougectro”. Yep. Sounds about right.
