The Arc of Light – Sound of Leaves

If autumn had a dedicated soundtrack, this would be it.

With a melodic piano intro and emotional vocals, the new release of The Arc of Light injected a great moody vibe directly into my head. It’s not quite melancholy, it’s more like a thoughtfully constructed surrounding where the listener is invited to self-reflect. The scenario isn’t static though, there’s a change happening within “Sound of Leaves”. Everything feels like you’re walking through a dark forest. First it’s cold, dark and unknown – and all of a sudden there’s this clearing, you’re stepping out of the dark, you’re feeling the warm sun again, and your mood set changes.

What I like most about this track is the maturing of the sound over the running time. The song isn’t just sitting on it’s starting theme and genre, but evolves into something different. It’s music like this that is rather felt than just heard. With all those little elements like backing choirs or small reverbed guitar accents, the track builds an atmosphere to experience, to let your mind wander in, to float in. Whoever chooses to get fully immersed in said atmosphere is caressed by the soft yet distinctive melody and emotional vibe that is “Sound of Leaves”.
