Mike Bertini – World of Lies

Imagine an upper class bar setting. A couple of small tables, defensive lighting, intimate scenery, plus a small stage. That’s the perfect setting for the new release of Mike Bertini.

Slow and with a emotional vibe attached, “World of Lies” offers good-old handmade music with a special retro character flavor attached. The defensive musical backing opens the book in which Bertini reads with his soft, confident vocals.

What I like most about this track is the emotional honesty. This track isn’t meant to showcase the abilities of the musicians in a ultra-polished setting, nor is it meant to squeeze every inch of melancholy out of the listener. It’s a groovy tune with just the right amount of feel in there to trigger that “been there, done that” feeling in the listener, plus the track does it in an uplifting fashion. If I want to learn something about life in a song, THIS is how I would like to get taught those life lessons. Give me a drink or two, place me at a table of the bar scenery I was talking about, and get Bertini on stage for the night. There you go. Perfect classroom.
